  • 1990 Alpha One Gen 1 5.7L 350. What gearing?

I found it odd that a 5.7L 2bbl would have the 1.50:1 outdrive w/19p prop. I thought this would have a 1.65:1 drive on it. Can anyone confirm?

    1.5 for a 5.7. The 1.65 was for l6 engines.

My friends wellcraft with 305 V8 had the 1.65:1 as well as my bayliner with 305.

He has a 5.7, not a 5.0. I just didn't list everything that used a 1.65. Fact still remains, the 5.7 needs the 1.50 gear ratio.

our 1997 5.7 liter has the 1;62;1. i thought this gearing was for heavier boats with 5.7 liter.? maybe ours has been changed, just curious.

Gearing is hard for me to understand.

            My friends wellcraft eclipse 233 has a 5.0L 305 engine with a 1.65:1 drive. Has a 15P prop and WOT is 4400RPM

The wellcraft eclipse 233 that has the 5.7L 350 engine has a 1.50:1 drive & 19P prop and WOT is unknown. I want to take a prop or a drive with me to test drive. I can be certain a 1.50 with a 19P prop is VERY much overpropped. I did not want to ask in the prop forum until I found out the correct drive ratio.
