Reman engines

Well going to put a reman 4.3 in my boat going with the vortec is there a good place to purchase a engine from that is reliable.Should i go with a 2 or 4 barrel carb is there a big difference in performance and what is the real hp rating not what the engine builders say.Its a 19"6 bowrider thanks.....

Do you want a complete turn-key engine or just a long block that you will add your parts to? You can get a good short or long block from Rapido Marine. Michigan Motorz sells complete turn-key engines. I'm not an expert on carbs so someone help me out but I know the switch from a 2bbl to 4bbl on my 305 added about 25 HP. Not sure what the power addition will be with a 4.3 Vortec. Good luck
