i'm looking at a mariner 40 hp outboard to buy.The guy says its in really good shape and he wants $1000 for it.Is this a good deal? Also it has been in salt water, but has been flushed well. is mariner a good brand for salt water? Thanks for the info-Tad

I don't know the year, but the model number is 40M and the serial number is 009132 hope this helps-Tad
