Can someone tell me the purpose of anti - syphon valves? I've heard they're know to cause fuel draw problems after some time, I've also been told most people just knock that ball out. What can happen if you do this?

Re: Anti -Syphon valves?

The anti-siphon valves are a safety feature to keep the gas from leaving the tank. If you have excess fuel hose in your bilge that drops below the tank and you get a leak, the gas could be siphoned into your bilge (not good). I had a fuel problem on my old boat and determined it was the anti-siphon valves. I do not have excess fuel hose in my bilge area, so I knocked out the anti-siphon balls and the problem went away.

OK Good info, thanks. Not sure if I understand what you mean by excess fuel hose in bilge area? What do I look for? Thanks again.

Jeff
