  • 1986 mercruiser transom plate bolt hole size?

    Installing a new transom in boat. What size drill bit do i need to drill thru the transom for the mounting bolts for the transom plate?
    1986 searay 268 weekender "lunasea" (current)
    1986 grady white 24 offshore with twin 150 yamaha's(current)
    1979 grady white 201 marlin (sold)
    1991 seapro centra 190

    9/16 or 5/8" are typical. The MUST be perpendicular to the transom surface.

        Ayuh,... 1/2" is Fine, it's the size of the studs though, Which means No wiggle room...

          lime when i changed my transom assembly this summer, i used 5/8". they were plenty snug when i put it on.
