Hi all,

Want to replace the plugs in my 2004 Mercruiser 5.0 MPI. Currently have AC Delco 41-932. Called my local auto part store and they advised that they only have two left and can't get anymore because they were discontinued and replaced by plug # 41-993.

Last time I bought something at this store they got it totally messed up and so I don't really trust them anymore. Can anyone confirm if 41-932 was superceded by 41-993?

Thanks.

They are correct, 41-932 is no longer available and 41-993 is what you want for that engine.

Newer Mercruiser engines don't come with MR-43LTS plugs anymore? Why not marine spark plugs?

I believe they started to ship all small block engines with AC 41-932's (which is more or less the platinum version of the MR43LTS) in 2002. A lot of engines were shipped with 41-932's even though the engine sticker called for MR43LTS's. The platinum plugs extend the service interval to 300 hours and perform better with the Mototron ignition systems on the MPI engines.

Just in the last year or so they replaced the 41-932 with the 41-993. I'm not sure why.

In my limited experience, if you have a carbed engine these tend to run on or diesel more than the MR-43LTS, so get them out and replace them.

Thanks for the history lesson Dave! I knew they were the platinum tipped plugs, cause my Impala has plugs numbered like that. And they say 100k in a car, well, mine were still "perfect" with the exact correct gap after 115k in my 04 Impala. I can't imagine how you could wear them out!?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but would anyone know what the gap setting would be for the spark plugs in a 2004 Mercruiser 5.0?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but ................

Then don't dig up old threads, start a new one of your own. You also need to list a serial number, year doesn't really work.
