Recently swapped out 4.3 OMC engine with a rubuilt one (non - vortec, no balance shaft).

I need to plug a hole on the bottom left side of the motor where a dipstick would go. Mine currently goes into the oil pan which is on the right side of the motor. Right now, its just making a mess....Any ideas who would sell this plug? I dont think its threaded and the guy at Napa looked at me like I was cray (he's probably right).

Thank you

Measure diameter of tube and substitute a rubber plug, dowel, or similar item.

It seems to me I have seen what look like mini core/freeze plugs used to block off those openings. It may be worth a call to Jasper Engines to try and get a lead.

or auto parts stores sell lead for building up battery posts you could tap some into it. I'd probably make up a ball of JB weld and just push it in there before it fully hardened.

like Limited said; that is an off-beat tube, maybe 5/16s. Jasper will know. I have a jasper, but am up to the point for de-winterizing, that the lower dog house is on, and I can't see what Jasper used.
