I just replaced my lower shift cable on a pre Alpha drive. I can get it to shift into forward and neutral but no reverse or reverse with no forward. I understand how to just the shift cable the problem is the amount of movement the cable needs to make the drive shift. I need to move the cable almost 2 inches to shift from forward to reverse. How do I remove the slack or am I looking at bigger problems in the drive.

Their is a great video in the stickies by Achris on how to measure play and determine worn items such as a shift spool in the drive etc.

Remove the drive, on the drive turn the brass shoe fully to the right, Clockwise. Doe it point exactly at 12:00

I'll have to try that. The cleat points to twelve when locked in forward then to 10 for reverse.
