What are channels between the openings on the carb plate for and will it matter if they aren't on my replacement intake? Carb has a spacer.

I will assume the Original Manifold was a MerCruiser, and the replacement is one from an auto wrecker? Those little passages do affect the Strength of the Pulses in the two separate Plenums of a Dual Plane Manifold, which will affect the strength of the signal the carb sees when metering the fuel. The Gasket on the Original Intake isn't one that isolates the two sides from each other either. And there is also a little Plenum between the Primaires, which isn't on the replacement...
How much Affect do they have? Some people will say None, others will say Some. I guess the only ones who really know are the Engineers that made the choices
