Choke unloader adjustemnt

I did a carb refresh on my 2000 4.3 (2 barrel) and making final adjustments but not sure how to measure the choke unloader.

The paperwork that came with the carb shows measuring the gap perpendicular to the carb body. Some youtuber was measuring it at the same angle as the choke plate. Both will produce different measurements, I already did mine as the paperwork said going perpendicular (2mm) which will create larger opening than measuring it at an angle.
