I have a NAPA Gold 3051 in there right now, but maybe not for long.

Looked up wix 33051 (napa 3051) and the specs are
Part Number:33051
UPC Number:765809330511
Style:Fuel Cartridge (Special Type) Filter
Service:Fuel
Type:
Media:Cellulose
Height:1.03 (26)*
Outer Diameter:0.7 (18)*
Inside Diameter Top:Closed:
Inside Diameter Bottom:0.205 (5)*
Nominal Micron Rating:26

GM Family of Cars (76-80), Jeep (80-83) In-Carb. OPEN END GOES IN FIRST

The goes in first is, does it go in the carb first, or goes in the fitting first would be the question, it doesn't mention a check valve, just special filter. Doesn't filter that fine at 26 micron

Don't see why a carb would need a check valve, its not like fuel draining back to the tank out of the filter would change anything. With a diesel yes, but don't see it with a gas motor.

Going to have to go to the local Napa and have a look at it a bit closer. Cost is 1.86 at farm and fleet, so probably not more then 5 at napa. Could cut it open and have a look, or maybe even call Wix

Just sent an email to Wix asking the question, will advise when I hear more

Please consider that a clogged filter can have added resistance and fuel pressure can cause that spring to collapse in 1 scenario but not the other
When that happens debris will go around the filter and into the float bowl -- which in turn cause engine performance issues until the carb is rebuilt.

In the end its your call -- good luck!

Wix replied to email with saying call there 800 number so I did. Paraphrasing comments

Question- have heard the filter has a check valve inside?

Response - It has a valve inside but its a roll over valve, so it will stop fuel flow if the car rolls over.

Does the fuel flow in thru the hole and out, or from around filter and out thru hole?

Response - Fuel flows thru the media and out thru the hole

On the Rochester carb I have, the fuel enters the bowl from a hole to the side and top to the fuel entry point. See photos (there may be a duplicate).

I'm going to get the screen filter and put it first, followed by the spring.

Thanks everyone. I learned something new this week. Much appreciated.
