oil pressure

I bought a 19ft. with a mercruiser 170 4 cylinder engine. It had sat for 4 years without being run. After fixing ignition and wiring I got the motor running. Oil pressure seemed high 75-85lbs at cold idle, 50-60lbs at warm idle, going to 75-80 at 2000 rpm warm. I've changed oil and filter--no change-- and hooked up a mechanical gauge to confirm readings. Is this normal for this engine or is this too high? I've got a feeling the relief valve in the oil pump is stuck, but don't want to pull the engine if the is this normal for that engine? Any advice is appreciated.,

While it is a bit high, its better to have high then low oil pressure. Could be the oil pump bypass is stuck, but may also free up with some time

Are you reading a dash gauge or a known good mechanical gauge?
a corroded connection on your dash gauge would read high
