Looking at a 2000 Baja 272, 7.4 MPI, with thru transom exhaust. There is no Y pipe installed at all. Anyone know if this is a stock setup?

Ayuh,..... As it comes from Merc, there's a y-pipe,...... As it comes from Baja, thru-hull may well be original,......

Quite common for such boats to have straight pipes right back and out from each header. It's an old school baja, scarab, donzi etc etc thing. Perhaps preferable to be fitted with switchable systems, more recently.

Sausage boats usually have a y-pipe block off and thru-hull exhaust

What’s a sausage boat, haha. Dare I ask ?

Its a boat you buy when you hit middle age and need to compensate for shrinking sausage..... usually a go-fast boat...usually with twins or triples....always with straight exhaust. also a play on the cigarette style boat (think about that for a second).

basically the aquatic version of the corvette

usually bought new by guys that look like this wearing gold chains

Haha. Brilliant. Some of this is sounding worryingly familiar to me though. Mmm. Went from a quality sensible sealine cruiser to a go fast hoodlum of a boat. I’ll be buying a convertible car next, haha.
