Inner Transom plate gasket

I am just about to refit my MC-1 165. Do I need an inner transom plate gasket? It did not have one when I removed it.

Will some sealer do the same job?

Inner plate doesn't use any gasket or sealer. Goes straight onto the transom...

Thanks for that. One more thing. Should an MC-1 outdrive have a seal behind the gimbal bearing? It looks to me like it is just a spacer ring??

It's not really a seal, it's more a 'grease-catcher'....

I leave the seal in, even with the new gimbal bearings being sealed units. Cheap little meaningless piece of junk seal that might keep my bilge cleaner one day.
