question the engine was hydrolocked due to exhaust failure now on start up you hear a compression his like a blown spark plug for a couple of cranks on start up . Engine runs fine . Just can’t figure where the noise is coming from .. any ideas?

Mercuiser compressed air noise

5.7lx engine I noticed a compressed air noise on start up can’t find leak . New plugs new manifold gaskets. Engine runs fine .no noise after initial start?

Maybe the air around the choke. Hard to understand sounds without hearing them.

Please at a minimum provide year, engine size, type of induction, etc. if you have it, also provide the serial number.

Answered my own question. Joey - Starting a new thread left out some key information.

Both threads are now merged.

Well that info changes things. Compression check might turn up something. If nothing obvious there do a leakdown test.
