I need to replace my carb. It has physical damage and stripped screws from previous owner. 1992 Mercruiser 3.0L [ALPHA I] [ 430B000ES ]. It has the original mercarb. I found a mercarb for $170. But the number shows it's a 1389-9562 which appears to be a 1986. Will this work? I can swap jets and internals with my old one as they are rebuild parts if need be. But will this carb work for my engine

Ayuh,..... Between those years was the Alpha 1, to the Gen.II,......

I donno whether linkages or attachments changed on the carbs/ manifolds,.....

If the carbs are physically the same,..... it should work,.....

it looks physically same. i'm thinking it might be the older style accelerator pump. but parts diag seems same. I read that there was some issue with loss of fuel on a tight turn but that seems to have technical fix.
