Never attempt to turn over a GM motor from the crank bolt. it will break off the bolt or strip the threads

either use a bar with two fingers to go thru the balancer holes, or use a crank socket.

You can do this if the engine rotates freely and spark plugs removed. If the engine is stuck trying to turn it this way can definitely cause the crankshaft damage or destroy the bolt.

If the engine was not turning or turning with a lot of force applied with removed spark plugs, they should not have used the crankshaft bolt with the socket and an extension wrench, this could have stripped the bolt and damage the crankshaft, an expensive repair.

Firstly, l apologise to the original poster ...again... for the hijacking of your STARTER MOTOR thread and my role in that...
sorry mate...in the local lingo,

dlogvine...there WAS NOT a lot of force applied to the crankshaft,
they were NOT trying to " unseize " it by force,

where did l mention lots of force was applied?

as l posted later, nuthin got broken, no blood was shed,

no gender confused young african hairy nosed wombats...( or crankshafts ) were harmed in the making of this post ( I just added that bit in just now though )

assumptions etc etc
l assumed l was gonna win 107 million on thursday night but that didn't happen either
