can anyone identify this for me?

Removed the out drive today to check the gimble bearing and lube the u joints and found this. I am a mechanic by trade but know nothing about boats. I an assuming it is some type of baffle to stop water from returning from the exhaust. No idea where they came from or if there is suppose to be a hinge pin connecting them. Boat is fairly new to me its a 1998 Bayliner 1950 3.0 alpha 1 gen 2.Any and all help id greatly appreciated

That's your exhaust shutter.. Remove the elbow off the end of the manifold and look at the top of the pipe. That's where the shutter belongs.

Thanks guys. the elbow was new when i bought the boat. I'll open it up and check it out to be sure. The Previous owner Probably replaced the elbow and never fished the old pieces out.
