Mercruiser MPI shift interrupt

When the shift interrupt operates it cuts ignition on 4 cylinders.

It could be just that. I might be as well just repacking it. Only thing that throws me on that is that it’s working as it should, now I know that it doesn’t activate going into gear and it hasn’t happened as much after I wiggled it and lubed it all up.
Winter job AD, like so many other things. I’m terrible for having good intentions of going to the boat to sort things out....but then the sun comes out and I end up just un tying the ropes from the mooring and setting off for a run. The very reason I’ve put around 550 hours on her I’m just over 3 years. Well used is an understatement

You didn't post a serial number, but if yours falls in this range.

MCM V8 5.0L MPI 0M320415-0M642305

You should really look at Service Bulletin 2003-06R and try testing with the jumper wire they talk about on page 3
