Hi,

i have a 2005 Alpha 1 Gen 2 with an original u-joint assembly. Having it replaced with a new OEM Mercruiser u-joint assembly. Doing yoke seals as well. Besides matching the part with my serial number, is there any type of modification that needs to be done, ie different shins, torque on the retaining but or anything else? No gears are being replaced.

Thanks

No. Just account for all shims and the spacer. The drive gear and bearings are pressed together a the correct preload. When you reassemble, the rolling drag torque on the bearings is critical, 5-7 inch pounds. You tube the process.

Also note the seal lip orientation on the old seal and press the new one in the same.
