Hi I am new to this group and I am sure there is already a post about this but I have a 1994 mercruiser 4.3 alpha one and was wondering what the position should be on the exhaust flappers at rest? Any help would be greatly appreciated

when in good shape the rubber sort of holds the flaps against the side of the exhaust y-pipe. after a while they droop just a little bit. when they are shot, the rubber is missing and they hang there.

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... Are ya gettin' a clickin' sound at idle, that goes away with more throttle,..??

That shutter, while still works perfectly, used to have a rubber castin' wrapped 'round it,....
So it didn't click at idle,....

Bondo, no clicking.... I was advised to check them because the boat sat for a few years. I dont know if I should just get the newer style since gaskets are off. I was confused if this was in the right position or not while off. Thank you so much
