Hi everyone,
I recently re-purposed the marine dipstick and tube from a 5.0 Mercruiser, for use in my marinized 5.7 Chevrolet engine (the replacement engine had the standard, car-type dipstick tube that did not bend around the exhaust manifold/head risers).
However, the tube that goes into the block went in - I feel - really too easy.
From all the accounts that I've read, it's always a tough job to get it in place.
I imagine there is a dedicated part for the 5.7 but before I order that, how can I be sure that it will not have the same issue as the current one that I have in place?
NOTE - as I'm still building the engine, I have NOT started it, so I'm not sure if it will leak oil from the tube but as it went in so easily (literally dropped right in), I can't imagine it will not.
Any help is appreciated in advance.
