Spot of Rust on drive shaft...

When servicing my drive i notice a spot of rust on the drive shaft. I perform regular maintenance and grease the spline whenever I pull the drive. Take a look at the pic and tell me your thoughts. The Gimbal bearing seems to be in good shape, well greased, and spins freely....Just not sure what would cause this rust spot.

OH....and nevermind the missing rings, they just happened to be removed when I took these pics

I wouldn't worry about it. A portion of the drive shaft is exposed to the elements within the engine bay when installed. Just grease the entire shaft a bit and go boating.

Ayuh,..... No worries,....

As Ted says, that's a non-workin' surface,..... purely cosmetic,....

Roger that....just wanted to make sure it’s not a precursor to a bigger, unfororseen problem.
