Year of Mercruiser 470??

Hey everyone,

I inherited a boat with what I believe is a late 1980s Mercruiser 470 but I am not sure. The seriaL number off of the number plate on the side of the engine is: C522085.

I cannot decipher this serial number off anything I see online. Can anyone help me as to tell me what model and year is of this engine?

Thanks BT Doctur. What model would the engine be? A 3.7 lx or a straight 470? I don?t even know if there?s a difference. Lol

Your serial number is coming up as MERCRUISER 3.7LX ALPHA, Model Number 437L100BS making it a 1989 year model.
What carburetor barrel size do you have on yours? 4?

Yep, serial says it's a 3.7LX, mfr date 03 Nov 88, making it an '89 as mentioned.
Normally there's a digit before the "C". If there's not, enter a zero and you should be able to search it.
