Hi,

Im told by the boat yard that my stator is likely to fail anytime since the 2x black pods have cracked & the "insulation fluid" has/is leaking out.

the motor is a 1974 johnson 115hp model 115ESL743 (or B), the black pods have 510839 on them so I take it this is the stator model number but when I ebay / google search this only 3 cylinder models come up with this number?

Mike.

If by 2 "black pods", you are speaking of the two charge coils on the stator, and goo is leaking out, failure is certain. Heck, they've already failed. You just haven't been stranded yet........(yet).

You can still get the stator at BRP but it's only $433.00.

The rectifier is bad or was bad as this overheats stator and coil lamination melts and oozes out....
