I have removed six bolts between the exhaust housing and lower unit. I have opened the access door and loosened the shifter connection.
Tell me the lower unit should drop with the drive shaft, just like a little engine...

Make sure you remove the shift rod bolt completely. Not just loosen.

Now, if it STILL does not drop. Flip motor upside down, hang from gearcase about an inch off ground, over a pillow, and spray penetrating oil down drive shaft. Next day, if you have one, hit the drive shaft with an impact hammer type tool.

The gravity helps free it up, if stuck. Hopefully not stuck. Vibration from impact gun helps too.

Hold on guys, you removed SIX bolts? There are seven. You have to remove the rear midsection cover (whole bunch of screws) to access the seventh one.
