9.9 motor

I was working on my 1986 9.9 johnson motor trying to get it to turn over pulling the cord about 30 times when all of a sudden it will not move it seems to be hitting something sounds like metal to metal. is this motor shot?<br />any help would be greatly appreciated<br /><br /> <br />n

Hey, Zaxxon. Maybe, but your problem is possibly in the recoil starter. <br /><br />No engine is shot to the point that it can't be fixed. The only two things a dedicated motorhead can't do are, 1. What (s)he decides not to try, and 2. What (s)he gives up on.<br /><br />Pull that starter and check it out.<br />Good luck.<br />JB
