I have an 18ft bassboat with a 4 blade SS 131/4 x 25pitch prop.Motor is 150hp johnson. Motor is set high. comes out of hole slow but I can turn 5600rpm with motor at full trim. Should I go with lower pitch to get a better hole shot and not have to trim fully to get 5500-5600rpm?

Re: prop decision

It depends on what you want to achieve.Your present set up with the 25@5600rpm at wot is good if you want maximum speed. If you want a better hole shot go to a three blade 24 pitch stainless steel.

What brand prop? Do you have a jack plate? I would try raising the motor (increase the x dimension). Watch the water pressure. You will be amazed how high you can run a four blade prop. Always test with an average load. Try your best to make this prop work. Going to a smaller pitch will reduce speed. Keep us posted. Good luck!
