Controls for '87 and '73 Johnsons

I've got a set of controls that fit a 1973 Johnson 85 HP manual shift motor. That motor had a black female electrical plug on the upper unit.<br /><br />I'm replacing that old motor w/ a 1987 Johnson 60 hp motor. Will my 1973 compatible controls fit the throttle, shift and electric plug of the 60 hp. My only concern is whether there's any danger of frying ignition or solenoid parts if the plugs fit and I try to start it. Any advice? thanks

The controls always come with the motors of that year. I'll check and see if they will swap monday. the old moter has a CD ing.the new one has an ADI ing. sys. so they may not<br />swap.<br />...have fun...corm
