Evinrude 25hp 1990 spark plug question

Hi,
I'm running an evinrude 25hp Ls electric start motor. I've read that the recommended spark plug is the champion QL77JC4. I went to my local motor factors and he supplied me with the equivalent NGK plug and told me they the exact same. He also told me that they were pre-set and didn't need adjusting....

Also iv'e heard that the plugs need to facing a certain direction??

On the water yesterday and I got the feeling she wasn't running as well as the time before.....

Any advice?

Plug direction is critical on DFI motors, not yours. Get the proper Champion plugs and see what happens.

Do you think this will make a difference? Also do the plugs come with the gaps pre-set? Forgot to mention the plugs that I took out of the engine(bought second hand) were NGK too.
