I recently bought the above motor and want to run it on a 12 volt system.
As I have learned from prior posts, I know I need to reduce the charge to the Choke Solenoid to avoid frying it.
What I'm not sure of is the history of this motor. Prior owner was a collector who had it in his stable but never used it, so Im at least one owner removed from past maintenance and mods.
I'm replacing the impeller and checking all the consumable parts.
The big question is how can I tell if the solenoid is a 12v or 6v?
I looks just 12v on my 58 18hp Johnson, so I'm not sure. Are there are tell tale visual traits? Markings?
The Starter Solenoid appears bigger than on the 58. Any insights? Thanks
