Helllo,
I am working on a 1966 Johnson 5hp model LD-11C. The powerhead gasket and adapter to power head are being replaced. Can anyone tell me the bolt sequnece to mount the powerhead back on? There are three bolts at the back and four studs toward the front, studs are on the powerhead itself. This is the exact same motor 4.0L Sahara was working on if you read that thread. They are 3/8 nuts and bolts and I believe they should be 18-20ft/lb torque, is this also correct? Thanks.

The torque value for the cylinder head screws is 60 to 80 inch/pounds[/B

Your going to make 3 torquing passing with the torque wrench.

1st pass is half torque value

2nd pass is 100% torque value

3rd pass will take place after you have started and warmed up the engine to a good running temp...about 5 to 10mintues. Shut the motor off and let it cool off. Then re-torque the cylinder head bolt in the correct sequence pattern to 100% of it torque value.

All done!!! :) Now recheck your compression!!!

Sorry, I miss read what you stating and getting another post wrapped up in my head.

These posted values are good for motors in the 1950's and 1960's. Very much applies to your motor ans situation.

Here are some charts with information that is often asked by visitors or members. I thought I would just pass along the information.
