Hello-- need input on how to inpect,or change water pump impller in 1951 Evinrude lightwin. Have dropped bottom section off that hold horzonital propeller shaft. Now have drive shaft exposed. Where is the impeller located and how do I get to it? IS there any other screws that need to be removd to get to this impller? Where is the water intake on this motor? Is the water taken in at the hole that says water flush? ---Thanks--- Gregg

The water intake is the screen on the fin coming down behind the prop.

The pump is removed by dropping the gearcase by removing the 4 screws holding it onto the exhaust housing. Slide it down, disconnect the shift rod, then pull the gearcase off. You will then have access to the pump.

Do you have a parts manual?

The flush port is for flushing the motor after it has been run in salt water.

The 1951 7.5hp is a FLEETWIN. What do you have, anyway? The Fleetwin 7.5 water pump may stay in the upper housing when you remove the gearcase. It is held in place by a flat spring when all assembled. No screws are used to hold that pump. Notice that the pump housing, plate, and spring are all keyed for alignment and must be aligned when you put it back together.
