hey sorry it took so long, i had to wait for the part to come in!
The first pic is the part itself, the second is where the part broke off (where it attaches to the shift handle)

Any help would be appreciated, i don't know where to start!

Of course there is no such thing as a 1967 15hp Johnson. So a model number would help tell what you actually do have. An FD-21 would be a 1967 20hp. Nevertheless, the powerhead has to be removed to access the clevis and screw that attaches the upper shift rod to the inner end of that shaft you pictured. At the least, you should have ordered a powerhead gasket and lock tab washer for the clevis screw.

Thanks for the quick response! It's model number WH-13A, which i found in my research to be a 1967 johnson 15hp , unless I'm wrong!
I didn't order those other parts , i was unsure on what else i would need so i was hoping to learn here, and i did, so thank you! Can you think of other parts i may need along the way doing this repair?

Thanks alot!!

The WH models are the Workhorse series and are based on the early 1960s 20-cubic inch Gale 15hp models, and in turn, the Gale 15s were based on the 1956 Evinrude & Johnson 15s..

I apologize, I forgot about those WH models. You are correct, it is a 1967. Doesn't change things, the powerhead still has to come off. Not having the parts book for that model, and not wanting to embarass myself further, I don't know how closely that one is related to the Gale 15. The Gale had two powerhead gaskets, part number 306199. The lockplate "clip" is 303721. A 303191 o-ring goes in the groove on the shaft you are replacing. Might as well get an new o-ring for the drive shaft splines too, 303067.

Now, for some un-asked-for advice. The Gale 15 had a lousy powerhead-destroying seal on the bottom end of the crankshaft. It is part number 303804. I wouldn't have the powerhead off without replacing that seal, "just because". "Because" if it goes bad (and they do), you can kiss the whole powerhead goodby. As I pointed out, I don't know if it is used in your WH model.

If it's like the older Fastwin that I have, you'll want to replace the o-ring that goes around the part you are replacing too. part number 303191

Thanks a lot F_R, seeing your post made my evening!!!

Just to confirm, the part numbers that you gave me were according to the gale 15? and those parts are identical to what i will need for my WH-13A?

If so ill be ordering them ASAP!!

Thanks again,

Jean

The Gale 15 & your Johnson WH actually share the same cowling. The Evinrude Worktwin did as well. The Johnson WH was made from 1965 through 1968 based on the Gale 15, which was in turn based on the old Johnson / Evinrude 15 up to 1956. The same 19.94 c.i. powerhead.

Take a look at the attachments. There is a black & white picture from a small 1967 Canadian Johnson flyer with the 20-horse (FD) & 15-horse (WH) side by side. Really they share a lot in the lower unit & gearcase. It appears that the actual shift lever is different, perhaps due to the different pan & cowling. The FD actually was derived from the 15, becoming an 18 for 1957 when it was enlarged to 22 c.i., then went to 20 horsepower for 1966.

The white & orange motor is a 1961 Gale 15.
The blue motor is a 1968 Canadian Evinrude Worktwin 15.

The silhouettes for all 3 motors, the Gale 15, Evinrude Worktwin 15 & the Johnson Workhorse 15 are identical.
