I spent $150 on a used tiller before researching this... :facepalm:
I removed the bolt that my remote model 1990 40HP has, where manual shows a tiller motor would have a friction screw.
I tried longer bolts etc, but nothing adds tension.
I guess I could just never grease it....
Looking in the parts fiche, the upper bushing is actually a different part number on Tiller models.... 334337 vs. 329291
grrr... why would they not just put the tensionable bushing in there?
Anyone successfully added tension without ripping the midsection down to the upper bushing.
Maybe that's not as big a job as I think....
I wonder if I could drill in there on an angle and push something in
I'll try this motor without it and see if it's squirelly... my 1975 25HP tiller has no friction adjustment - those ones never did...
