I have a 1995 30 hp johnson j30ELEOB I took it out this weekend and had exhaust and some water coming into the cowl which I found out the because it was being sucked into the carb and stalling it out, I assume from what I saw that the its the gasket that connects the power head to the lower unit so anyone know what is involved in replacing it, is it simply removing the bolts that connect the two and changing it out?

You will also have to remove the fuel line and throttle linkage, then remove the bolts the hold the powerhead on.

make sure to clean the mating surfaces well and make sure to keep any of the old gasket material cleaned up and away from any water passages.

You'll also have to remove the upper shift linkage.

I will order the gasket today and try to tackle it this weekend if I have the new one, thanks for the help.
