transom clamp screw/swivel plate fix??

has anyone come up with an effective,lasting fix for re-attaching the swivel plate (cup) to a transom screw??

Yes, OMC did. It requires a special tool and the washer retainer of course.

The alternative is to install the new type swivel clamp that incorporates a threaded hole in the center rear portion of the threaded shaft and a related threaded shoulder bolt to retain the washer.

Exactly what engine are you speaking of?

have a couple with that problem, but the one id like to fix is a 1966 jw-21, i do have the original swivel plate

I've put those retainers on with the right size socket before. Best thing to do is get the new style clamp as Joe suggested.

I just file the clamp bolt end flat used a small peen punch then drilled a hole tapped it and bolted on a cup, I'v done a few this way and never had one fall off yet, I do put a dab of thread lock before bolting on the cup,
