  • transom clamp screw/swivel plate fix??

has anyone come up with an effective, lasting fix for re-attaching the swivel plate (cup) to a transom screw??

Yes, OMC did. It requires a special tool and the washer retainer of course.

The alternative is to install the new type swivel clamp that incorporates a threaded hole in the center rear portion of the threaded shaft and a related threaded shoulder bolt to retain the washer.

Exactly what engine are you speaking of?

Look at the site below, different engine but same part, retainer #25.
It does take a special tool to install it, maybe borrow or rent from local deal if they can find it.

I've put those retainers on with the right size socket before. Best thing to do is get the new style clamp as Joe suggested.

I just file the clamp bolt end flat used a small peen punch then drilled a hole tapped it and bolted on a cup, I'v done a few this way and never had one fall off yet, I do put a dab of thread lock before bolting on the cup,
