Hey guys new here. I just bought an old ski and bass boat and it came with a johnson j115tlce v4 seahorse. I understand this is a 1983 motor. It already had gas in the tank when i bought it but my question is what type of gas do I use and do I need to mix oil in the gas or just straight fuel?

That engine originally came with a VRO pump which will automatically mix gas with oil. Has it been disabled?

If it hasn't been disabled, do it and keep on mixing 50:1. Which model # is correct ? The one on the heading or the one on your first post ?

The correct model number is j115tlcte. How would I know if this was disabled or not?

If your model # is correct they didn't have a vro. They came out in1984.

Make sure you use the correct oil to premix with in the gas tank. The oil must be a marine oil, rated TCWIII on the can. Those mixing containers that archcycle suggests are handy.

Get a real manual for future reference. Don't use a Seloc or other third party one. They are avail online
