I got 77 jonhson 55hp seahorse with no spark on the # 2 cylinder. So far i swaped the coils out and still no spark on that cylinder. What should I try next?
you have to have a repair manual for your motor this one will explane how to do this and what your readings shud be.normaly you see wen the stator will be bad you have some sticky rasn runing on the motor down the power pack you have to test with an ohm meter
There are not any good manuals online, go to e-bay or google Ken Cook, use your model number and get the factory manual. They cost a little more but are well worth the money.
Well im waiting for a new coil and power pack to come in the mail. Today I started it and it sputters some and idles ruff. After a few minitues the idle will pick up and run smoother. When I pull the number one plug wire off it stays running. but when I pull the number 2 wire it dies.I switched the coils and I got the same results only dies when I pull the number 2 wire off. So im guessing the power pack might be ok and that im getting spark to the #2 cylinder now. I have already soaked and rebuilt the carbs. Compression on both cylinders is 120. Any Ideas on what might be the wrong with this old johnson.
