  • 1966 33 hp evinrudefuel pump gas problems

I changed fuel pumps because the other one that was on it was the wrong one and would only run good when I would squeeze the bulb. I put on the correct fuel pump that I ordered from Sierra, but now gas is coming out of the exhaust and will not run at all. The first time I tried to start it and was squeezing the bulb, gas came out of the front of the carb. What I am wondering is this correct, did I just flood it badly or is something else wrong. The carb. was rebuilt just a couple months ago.

Sounds like it is time to open the carb up again and check for stuck float, bad float, dirt behind float valve shut off, etc.
The last suit you wear won't need any pockets. You might as well spend it on a boat.

The carburetor may have been the problem in the first place. Maybe you didn't need a new fuel pump. At this point, we just don't know. Anyhow, there is something wrong with that float valve.
