i am a 1997 Johnson 150hp Ocean Runner. the problem i am having is i pump the fuel bulb till it gets hard. i start the motor with no problem. Motor runs great for about 3min then it starts missing and sputtering then dies. the only way to start it again is re prime the bulb and it does it all over again. It started this out on the lake and i had to keep pressure on the bulb to keep it running to get it back to the dock.

I have changed the fuel filter, fuel lines, and bulb. I checked the fuel tube in the tank for clogs and it is clean. i disconnected the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb and when i try and start the motor fuel comes out of the fuel line. i was told that if fuel comes out the the fuel pump is ok. i am stumped and in need of some help. Thanks

You tested the pump after pressurizing the bulb right?
Once that pressure is lost the pump will fail to feed.

ya, i think it still had some pressure in the bulb when i tried it. i will wait till the motor starts missing and dies then remove the hose and test it to see what happens. i didnt think about it still having pressure. thanks
