  • 55 HP Johnson, What year is it?

    I just bought a 55hp Johnson Outboard. The serial # is J 2981682. I would like to get a manufacturer date and where to get parts.

    The model number will solve the mystery. If it's a 3 cylinder with a hydro-electric gearcase (wires going to lower unit, no shift rod) it's either a 1968 or 69.
