  • how to id old evinrude from serial number

does anyone know how to decode the serial number of an old evinrude? mine is probably a 5.5hp fisherman with a serial number of 5524R-14340. Need to figure out the year so I can find parts.
    Thanks,
    Doug

Start with your local Evinrude dealer. With that in mind, the best favor you can do yourself is buy a parts book specific to your motor. You will be surprised at how many parts are available if you go in armed with part numbers.

For obsolete parts, the best is www.sea-way.com

Depending on what parts you need, start with iboats.
