I would like to test just the warning horn itself to make sure it is working. Is it just a matter of hooking it up directly to the battery?

Re: Warning Horn Test

There is a sleeve on the tan wire from the temperature switch a few inches from the cylinder head. If you slide it down, and ground the control end of the wire to the engine block, the horn should sound if the ignition key is in the run/on position.

The horn should beep when you turn the key on.

I have a 1988 control that does not have that start up beep, instead, it has a slot located above the ignition and under the warm up lever into which you can insert a second key. You have to raise the warm up lever to access it.

With the ignition on and the second key inserted in the slot, the horn will sound.
