Leaking Tilt Jack?

I usually tow and store my outboard in the tilted position (on the tilt legs). While doing other work, I noticed for the first time red hydraulic fluid leaking from the jack while in the lowered/running position. I wiped it off to get a clue on flow rate, and it returned (very slow leak) next time I dropped the motor. Is this just an issue with seals? If figure that a leak would most likely occur in the pressurized/tilted position, but I’m certainly no expert. Johnson 2005 50 2stroke J50PLSOC

You can usually get seal kits for PTT units. You will need or need to fabricate a spanner to open the tilt cylinder.

BTW, you should clean, prime and paint that PTT motor, or it will rust out.

Those seals definitely go bad that's for sure. Not a horrible job, just need a spanner wrench.
