Got a 1974 Rude 85. It does not have the tilt lock on the motor as I've been using a modified trim/tilt system with the side-saddle cylinders. Works well on normal transom, but I've mounted the motor on a pontoon now, and the trim/tilt bracket overhangs the transom causing massive spray all over the place. So, I'm going to remove the system as its not needed on a pontoon.
I've procured all the parts for the tilt lock that's currently not installed (the lever, all the springs, rods, etc). Its going to need this to effectively use reverse. Question is after looking at the motor, am I going to be able to install these parts with the motor on the boat and tilted up, or will this involve taking the whole bracket apart somehow? Does anyone have any experience installing or removing these parts?
