I have a 1988 Sea Nymph 16' v hull with a 1990 60HP VRO. The power head is bad. Looking at putting on a 50HP 4 stroke Evinrude. Will I notice a big difference in performance with the 10 less HP. I just bought the boat a month ago. It runs at speed, it just will not idle. Has compression of 120, 80 and 60

Yes there will be a significant power difference. I would recommend against the Evinrude 50 hp 4 strk for these reasons.
It is probably a Suzuki built motor and since Bombardier has bought Evinrude Factory support is drying up. Parts are Very expensive for them and some are NLA. I would rebuild your 60 or look at a different 4 strk from a current Manufacturer.

That 4 stroke is a Suzuki and that factory supplies parts.-----No need for a visit to an Evinrude dealer.
