The symptoms are intermittent, of course, but seems to occur at restart after the engine has been running a while. It will start & idle fine, but dies as soon as the throttle starts to open. It seems like lack of fuel. When it runs, it’s a strong motor & will turn 5100 - 5300 RPM with a 19 pitch prop. It doesn’t seem to lack fuel when it’s running WOT for 5 minutes or so. I’m wondering if my in line pump has something to do with it. Is the inlet pressure at idle too much perhaps? I’m running an in line pump because I’ve got a bow tank with 20’ of line to the motor & figured it would help keep the motor fed. I never had any issue with an in line pump on the older motor I used to run on this boat. It’s a low pressure “knocker” (diaphragm) pump. The oil side of the VRO is properly disabled. I hate to take it to the shop with such an intermittent problem as there’s no water near me & I doubt it’s going to duplicate in a test tank. Any suggestions are appreciated.
