1970 Evinrude

I have a 1970 evinrude 115 will the bottom end from a 140 work on this motor any help would be awesome thank you

No. The 1970 is a Hydro Electric Shift and all the 140s are Mechanical Shift. You would need to find a V4 gearcase from the 1968 - 72 era. The Gear Ratios varied on some of the engines though. Even then, they may have changed the Spline on the driveshaft

What is the 115 HP lower unit doing / not doing ?The spline on the hydro-electrics was all the same.-----The 140 spline is different so it will not fit.----Used gearcases are available in some areas.---Your location ?
